I know I might get some comments for being the first guy to post anything and also the only bachelor, but I add this by request from the Plett’s.
It’s great if dunked in coffee or tea!
Ingredients
4 Cups Self raising flower
4 Cups Bran
1 ½ Cups Sugar
7ml Salt
250g margarine or butter
2 Cups Cream (I normally use 1 cup Cream and 1 cup Milk otherwise it can be very rich)
Method
Mix Self raising flower. Bran, sugar and salt together.
Crumble margarine in the mixture until it looks like breadcrumbs
Add cream and mix well.
In a greased flat pan press dough flat.
Bake rusks at 180 ºC for 45-50min or until fork comes out clean
When cooled down cut in pieces and dry out in oven at very low heat. This normally takes sometime.
Shoprite does not always have bran, but from time to time they do have!
You can add any off the following or even your own mixture to it to give more taste.
1 C sunflower seeds
1C nuts
1C raisins
