Mix together:
1 1/2 lb (700g) ground beef
3/4 cup dry bread crumbs or cracker crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp garlic powder (or 2 cloves garlic, minced)
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 tsp chili powder
2 eggs
Shape meat mixture into meatballs. Brown in hot skillet, then place in baking dish. Mix sauce ingredients and pour over meatballs. Bake at 350*F (180*C) for 45-60 minutes.
Sauce:
2 cups ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 Tbsp vinegar
1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tsp mustard
1/2 cup chopped onions
I often don’t want to use so much of my brown sugar for the sauce, so I will do 1/2 the sauce recipe and then make up the difference with barbecue sauce from Leader Price.
These are really good served with rice or mashed potatoes.
Subway has a great meatball sub (at least, my husband thinks so!)…this would probably be good that way, as well. I’ve made meatballs (with marinara sauce) and freeze it in small packages. It thaws well and makes a nice quick meal for him.
Rhonda, can you also post your slow cooker pulled pork recipe please.
